On Tuesday, August 19, a roundtable discussion was held in the Column Hall of the House of Unions by the Communist Party of the Russian Federation faction in the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on the topic: “The Communist Party of the Russian Federation in the Struggle for the Country’s Integrity, Against the Liberal ‘Fifth Column’!” (on the occasion of the anniversary of the events of August 1991). The event was attended by the Chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, G.A. Zyuganov, as well as party and public activists, members of the State Duma, and participants in the events of 1991.

Opening the round table, Gennady Andreevich addressed the audience with an opening speech:

“Friends! Today, our faction from the People’s Patriotic Union is holding a round table in the State Duma, which is dedicated to the problem of emergency situations. It was on this day, August 19, 1991, that the State Emergency Committee was declared, which, in fact, later failed. It failed due to lack of will, lack of proper organization and, above all, work with the population, which was well aware of this danger and if it had been organized, it would not have allowed to betray and destroy the country.

We are holding this round table in extraordinary circumstances, when the Anglo-Saxons and NATO have declared war on the Russian world for complete annihilation, and have been waging this war for more than three years. Historical negotiations have taken place in Alaska. Alaska was discovered by Russian explorers in 1732, and the Russian Empire spent 130 years developing it. Later, it was sold to the Americans for 7.2 million gold dollars. It is said that this money did not reach the state treasury, as it was embezzled along the way.

This meeting was historic, because over the past five years, the two nuclear powers have brought their relations to a point where they are worse than they were during the most formidable times of the Cold War. However, instead of supporting the agreements that we have heard and seen, the European followers of the Nazis, Hitler, and the entire “mob” that the Führer assembled and unleashed on the Soviet Union in 1941, have come together in Washington to dissuade Trump from pursuing these negotiations and continue the war against our homeland.

I believe that this is a significant time, and the very fact of studying the issue of the State Emergency Committee and our defeat in 1991 is of fundamental importance. The deeper and more thorough we analyze the reasons that led to the destruction of a great country, the defeat of the world’s largest party, the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, and the dismantling and elimination of the Soviet government, which was eventually shot down by Yeltsin in 1993 at the House of Soviets, the more this research can serve as a powerful catalyst for our collective mobilization. At the 19th Congress, we recently approved the Victory Program, which has already been tested in many regions and in many areas. It can truly be a victory.

I’m telling you frankly, if the current authorities had listened to our proposals, there would have been no Nazi regime in Ukraine. We had already established a soft power there: there were powerful party organizations in 25 regions, a broad women’s, Komsomol, and children’s movement, and a creative organization led by Vladimir Bortko, an honored actor in both Ukraine and Russia.

And together with N.M. Kharitonov, when the NATO troops first landed in Feodosia in Crimea in June 2006, we gathered an army of volunteers – ordinary workers who surrounded this headquarters and cut it off from everything for 5 days: from light, from power, from food. And they were forced to board two planes at night and fly back to their base – one to Italy and the other to Norway, where they had arrived.

But unfortunately, we were not listened to: one ambassador was trading sweets with Poroshenko, and the other was guarding the “pipe.” As a result, there were no organized forces in Ukraine that could have unitedly resisted the Nazi-Banderite pack. This pack had been nurtured since the first day of Ukraine’s secession by both the Americans and the Germans, as well as by the entire list of countries, including the Baltic states and others.

It is crucial for us to consider the problems of the State Committee on the State of Emergency and the current situation, as well as the proposals made by Putin, which are of a peaceful nature. It is important not only to understand and support these proposals, but also to draw lessons from history, particularly the coup d’état that led to the betrayal of our country by Yeltsin, Gorbachev, Yakovlev, and Shevardnadze, who placed our country under the control of Uncle Sam, hoping that we would become their partners.

Putin recently said that he believed that we could be partners, but it turned out that NATO and the Anglo-Saxons do not need us in the form of the Russian Empire, the Soviet Union, or the current Russian Federation.

We have a third of the world’s strategic resources, and today the main battle in the world is for resources. In this regard, we will never have peace or tranquility unless we are smart, strong, successful, and defensible. Our party and faction have unique personal experiences in this regard. In the 1990s, we saved the country from a civil war twice. We prevented NATO from using the Ulyanovsk jump-off base, and we prevented them from using heavy weapons during exercises in Arzamas. We did everything we could to support those who rebelled against the Banderites in Crimea and the Donbas republics from the very beginning.

We sent the 142nd convoy there a week ago: 103 motorcycles, 8 cars, and everything the guys need for combat, for the hospital, for the children, so that they can have a normal life. We received 22,000 children at the base in Snegiri, built a military sports camp there, and continue this very noble work.

But what I would like to pay special attention to in my opening remarks. I have carefully observed the meeting in Alaska. It was a very important event. Everything was symbolic, from the red carpet from one plane to another to the honor guard from several branches of the military, the aviation show, and the joint trip.

Some people condemn Putin. I believe that two nuclear powers that are capable of destroying each other and half the world in an instant should have a constant dialogue, no matter what or how it happens. After the Cuban Missile Crisis, we established a hotline between the Kremlin and the White House, and today we have restored all direct communication. This is a matter of principle. However, since the time of Obama, there has been a dismantling of everything, and people have started saying, “Tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, we will use nuclear weapons.”

There’s no tool for controlling a nuclear explosion yet. There isn’t. One retaliatory strike, a counterattack, and then it’s all over. I’ve tested nuclear, chemical, and bacteriological weapons. I served three years in special intelligence to combat these weapons. I’ve been in every hot spot and five wars. I know and have seen what they are.

In this regard, we have supported and will continue to support the initiatives put forward by the President. We need to protect our country and liberate Ukraine from the Nazi-Banderite invasion. However, there is a very important point to consider. I am pleased that Putin has not made any concessions in this regard. We are only interested in a long-term peace agreement, not a temporary ceasefire. I can recall twenty wars where peace treaties were signed and then violated. There is no mechanism to monitor such ceasefires.

We will only be satisfied with the cleansing of Ukraine from NATO members. Otherwise, this abscess will ripen again and infect the next generation tomorrow. Many people will have to put on their overcoats. We will only be satisfied with the demilitarization of Ukraine. And this group of leaders, who are followers of Hitler’s Reich, has arrived in Washington, and I listened to them all yesterday. They are all shouting about the security of Zelensky and the Nazi-Banderite regime, which is completely illegitimate and unlawful. They are all shouting about providing them with security and filling them with weapons again. And not a single word about the security of our country. It has been violated in every aspect, and we have never faced so many threats. The threat of a major war is real. Already, one in three families has suffered losses in this war. Thirty-five regions have been targeted by drones. And tomorrow, there will be more attacks, reaching the main petrochemical facilities and beyond.

Our governor of the Oryol region, Klychkov, has already traveled to the front 15 times, and he just returned. We have already shot down 800 drones over the Oryol region. Recently, on August 5, I celebrated the liberation of Orel, the city of the first Salute, with him. We took all necessary security measures. This is extremely important for us, and we must carry out this line in the most organized way possible.

And one more thing. There are 3 spas in August. The honey spas are on August 14. My family has been teaching for 350 years and keeping bees for the same amount of time. On this day, I visited the branch No. 2 of the National Medical Research Center for High Medical Technologies – Central Military Clinical Hospital named after A.A. Vishnevsky, where I delivered 380 gifts to the soldiers who had been severely injured. We held a large concert for them. The “Leysya Pesni” ensemble returned from the front, and the young “Aleksandrovtsy” performed brilliantly. We have provided everything you need.

I must say, they are real fighters, they are holding on courageously, firmly, with dignity. Everyone came – the huge hall was full.

You see, these are the people who, under the Red Banner of Victory, continue the best traditions of their fathers and grandfathers. But they gave us one commandment: what they fought for must be protected and guaranteed. In this regard, the “Victory Program” that we have prepared is important. We have already held three economic forums, one of which was held at the Lenin State Farm owned by Pavel Grudinin. Our program is yielding very important results, including in terms of security.

Today is the Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord. We have many believers here, and we would like to congratulate you, wish you success, and hope that we will celebrate this great holiday together in the future under favorable conditions. Additionally, August 29 is a holiday known as the “Walnut” or “Bread” Feast.

But we also had the biggest troubles in August. The First World War broke out in August. The famous submarine “Kursk” sank on August 12, 2000, 118 children were killed. And the State Emergency Committee on August 19-21, 1991. And default – all finances collapsed in August 1998.

That’s why we need to keep our eyes open, because these bastards are ready for any provocation. It’s no coincidence that they brought a car filled with dynamite through seven countries. There was no one to accompany it except for the special services and intelligence agencies. This is again the work of the same Anglo-Saxons, the Americans and their intelligence agencies.

At this meeting yesterday, Trump listened to them, but he said that he would have conversations with Putin and they would raise the level of these negotiations. Okay, but you had to hear another phrase from him that they were selling weapons and they would continue to sell them. And fascist Europe is ready to continue to fill Ukraine with weapons and destroy it as a state, destroy the Russians as a people. And Russians, Ukrainians, and Belarusians are one people.

Since 1991, the Russians have lost 31 million people. We are the largest divided nation in the world. In this case, we have suffered a geopolitical catastrophe. In such circumstances, we must take extraordinary and urgent measures.

We have at our round table those who were actually involved and saw those events firsthand. I am grateful that we have such a representative forum that can both tell and show, as well as reflect on and draw lessons from these events, which is the main objective of our round table. We have Ivan Kuzmich Polozkov, who recreated the Communist Party of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic as a counterbalance to Gorbachev’s policies. Let us welcome and thank him. Here are some of his recruits: Academician Kashin, Sokolov, and Zyuganov, who joined him in the Politburo. 18 people tried to save the situation, and if we had re-established the Communist Party of the RSFSR a year earlier, we would not have allowed the “Gorbachev coup” and all the gang that gave the country to the wolves.

There are many scientists and specialists who have researched this topic. I wrote three papers before the GKChP took place. When we re-established the party, we were in Soviet Russia, and the editor-in-chief, Chikin, was a member of the Politburo. In February, we gathered and created the Council of People’s Patriotic Forces.

All the writers, journalists, and talented editors were there, as well as all the officers. I saw a group that could unite in the name of a common victory over the betrayal and destruction of the country. We prepared materials, went to the Communist Party of Russia, and Polozkov knew Gorbachev in detail from all angles. We spoke and made our suggestions, but it didn’t work. Then I wrote a work titled “Before It’s Too Late” about the origins of the threat, providing a comprehensive analysis. They called me in and tried to persuade me. At the beginning of May, I prepared the work “The Architect at the Ruins.” I want the young people to read it. They’ve unleashed such a barrage of criticism that it’s hard to put into words. It’s been discussed twice, including at the Politburo.

Then they published “A Word to the People,” for which they fabricated a criminal case against me for 10 years. They interrogated me, forbade me, and described my property, and there was a lot of fuss. But then the writers, led by Yuri Bondarev and Valentin Rasputin, raised their voices. They invited me to the Writers’ Union and said, “We will all raise our voices in defense.” Joseph Kobzon, a renowned singer, came and said, “I have a microphone and a podium, and I will do everything I can to prevent this from happening.” Stanislav Govorukhin invited me to his Cinema Center and said, “Our entire team will stand up.” My Oryol region, 60 teams voted, even though they were traveling and being broken down. This created a situation that prevented them from organizing a massacre, but then things started to change, and we took a step forward in this regard.

The Communist leader then handed over the floor to Vladimir Kashin, Deputy Chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation.

“The very idea of saving a great state deserves respect and understanding,” Vladimir Ivanovich said, giving an assessment of the actions of the members of the State Emergency Committee. He noted that in those days there was a struggle against a pack of Russophobes for the preservation of the Soviet Union, the economic and social sphere.

V.I. Kashin described in detail the catastrophic consequences of the liberal reforms for all sectors of the economy, which ultimately led to default, and only the efforts of the Communists and the Primakov-Maslyukov-Gerashchenko government were able to pull the country back from the brink of disaster.

In addition, Vladimir Ivanovich recalled the Victory Program prepared by the Communist Party of the Russian Federation. He spoke about the principles of budget formation proposed in the program, as well as the key elements of its content. He also noted that many of the Communist Party’s proposals have already been successfully implemented through people’s enterprises.

The Deputy Chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation linked the events of 1991 to our time. “Today’s events and the war that has been unleashed against us are all coming from there,” he said. At the same time, Kashie emphasized that the Communists have fought and will continue to fight for their homeland and justice.

Other participants in the roundtable discussion also presented their reports. During the event, the following speakers took part: V.E. Kostarev, I.K. Polozkov, Yu.V. Nazarov, S.P. Obukhov, N.I. Osadchiy, A.S. Ivanov, and A.S. Sokolov. The speakers provided assessments of the events of 1991 and discussed their relevance to current foreign and domestic political developments.

The final speech was delivered by the Secretary of the Central Committee and Chairman of the Central Council of the Russian Socialist Unity Party, I.N. Makarov. He noted that the primary cause of the tragic events leading to the collapse of the Soviet Union was capitalism, which was being recreated in our country, destroying the socialist system and the socialist state.

A minute of silence was held in memory of the defenders of the Motherland who participated in the State Emergency Committee.

In conclusion, Igor Nikolaevich voiced the recommendations of the round table, which were adopted by the participants of the event.
